Services to Children and Families At Family Intervention Services we pride ourselves on being a leader when it comes to providing the support and assistance families need to overcome challenges. Our number one priority is to help families develop productive, positive and loving relationships that will last a lifetime and to harness and expand their personal strengths.
FIS meets with families in their own homes and at the convenience of the family. Consistent with FIS’ family-focused orientation, our caring staff members teach new skills and positive reinforcement that is culturally sensitive and appropriate to each individual family’s circumstances.
FIS offers a range of programs to help families succeed and prosper. The best way to learn about accessing services is to contact the FIS office in your county. Services fall within three basic categories:
Family Therapy. Families in turmoil often need the help of an objective, outside party to help put the pieces back together. Every week, with the help of FIS counselors, relationships are repaired, communication is improved and stability is re-established in families throughout New Jersey. FIS will also work with families to access community resources and secure financial resources when necessary.
Family Support. Family support can take many shapes and forms including helping families to:
design and manage a family budget
negotiate the array of non-profit and governmental social services
find affordable and reliable day care and health care services
manage supervised parental visits while working to reunify the family
locate appropriate and accessible community services
Crisis Intervention. Staff members are available 24 hours a day and seven days a week to assist families participating in FIS services defuse crisis situations.. All FIS staff is trained in crisis intervention with an ultimate goal to restore an environment where it will be safe for the child to remain in the home.
