The sad fact is that a significant number of children in New Jersey have been abused, neglected or abandoned by their parents. In other cases, parents are simply unable to provide a safe, nurturing environment in which to raise healthy, well-adjusted kids. The absence of a strong, loving family can result in children who are unable to trust or bond with others. All too often, who end up involved in crime and substance abuse, as well as continuing the cycle of abuse with their own children.
Frequently these children are subjected to the confusing and traumatic experience of continuously being moved from one short-term living situation to another. This is a cycle you can help stop. By volunteering to foster a child, you can provide the care and nurturing that these children desperately need to be successful and well-functioning friends, siblings, parents and members of society.
