Family Intervention Services Receives Support of NJ Band

The group has deep New Jersey roots, formed while the members were in high school. After several years of making music together and traveling to play shows throughout the country, the group members are currently scattered across the country and engaged in diverse pursuits.

Having written about abuse in their 1995 song, “Not My Kind”, the group, whose music is considered hardcore with an undercurrent of social conscience, was strongly affected by the thought that any parent could hurt their own child and the prevalence of child abuse throughout the country. After searching for the right charity to serve with their donation, they chose FIS after identifying with its mission and vision.

“To Backlash and 1124 Records, hardcore has always been more than music. It's been about community, giving back, and solving problems that exist in the worlds we live in,” the group said in a statement.

Help FIS and Win Yankee Tickets!

Come see your 27-time World Series Champs take on the Oakland Athletics as the playoff race heats up and help Family Intervention Services continue its good work at the same time. Starting today, we'll be conducting a drawing to win a pair of grandstand Yankee tickets for the Thursday, Sept. 2 game at 1:05 p.m.

To be entered, all you have to do is make a $50 donation to Family Intervention Services between today and 12 noon on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. The lucky winner will be contacted on the 31st via e-mail to make arrangements to pick up the tickets. All proceeds will go toward Family Intervention Services' continued efforts to help the children, families and communities we serve throughout New Jersey.

Summer Dreams
Despite the heat, FIS kids are having a cool time! Thanks to our many donors and supporters we have been able to fulfill many of the wishes featured in our Book of Dreams. From pottery to forensics classes, to horseback riding to guitar lessons, our FIS kids have had the opportunity to be “just kids”. They have been granted new experiences, made new friends, and savored the pleasures of summer.

Family Intervention Services Receives Support of NJ Band
FIS is pleased to announce that we are the beneficiary of a donation from Backlash a New Jersey band that just released a double LP discography titled “Through Different Eyes”. The 2-disc compilation spans the band’s career, which began in 1991. As part of the release, the group has commissioned a special pressing of 50 orange vinyl copies with all proceeds from those sales benefitting FIS
